W-League Double Header
Georgia Yeoman-Dale will make her debut for the Western Sydney Wanderers this afternoon in their opening match of the W-League season.
Coming up against her old club and cross town rival, Sydney FC, the former Matilda will be up for the challenge of another highly anticipated Sydney derby.
She recently spoke to the Wanderers about her long awaited return to the pitch after a difficult battle with injury.
"A long time out of the game ended up being 18 months on the sideline. Which was unexpected when I first pulled off to the sideline with my sore ankle, it didn't seem like a lot," said Yeoman-Dale.
"Turns out it was a really tough injury and a really long recovery tiime so it took a long time for the bone to heal. I had a lot of bad bone bruising and a stress fracture in my ankle, through that time there were a lot of setbacks.
"It was an emotional rollercoaster and I'm just really excited to be back now. I'm not taking it for granted because I know what it's taken me to get to this point."
Yeoman-Dale will look to recapture her top form this season and return to the Matildas line-up.
Nicki Flannery will also get her season underway tonight when Canberra United take on Adelaide United at Viking Park.
Flannery will return for Canberra after a year with the Newcastle Jets and will be looking to put together a consistent, injury free season.
Good luck to Georgia and Nicki, we can’t wait to see you dominate on and off the field this season!
