Harris Wins Young Victorian of the Year
Tayla Harris was named the 2021 Young Victorian of the Year earlier this week for her work as a respectful relationships ambassador.
Since the fallout of the now infamous ‘Kick photo’, Harris has been outspoken and honest about the need for change regarding gender equality and violence, online harassment and bullying.
Her work has included taking on a lead-role in engaging with the Carlton Football Club’s Carlton Respects Schools Program and joining Our Watch as an ambassador.
Both Carlton Respects and Our Watch are committed to educating and changing behaviours that lead to violence against women and children.
She has also published a book, More Than a Kick: Footy, the Photo and Me, which aims to educate young teens on how to navigate the difficulties on social media.
Harris was one of four Victorian nominees for the Young Australian of the Year award.
Harris talked to the Carlton Football Club after learning she was named the 2021 Young Victorian of the Year, see the interview here.
Congratulations Tayla from all of us here at More Than Management, we are so proud of the positive impact you are having on the community.
