Harris Highlights Community Spirit

Tayla Harris’ community spirit was on show this week as she was named a Victorian nominee for the 2021 Young Australian of the Year award and finished as runner-up in the Jim Stynes Community Leadership award.

Harris has been recognised for these awards for her contribution to gender equality and violence, online harassment and bullying.

In the fallout from the now infamous ‘Kick photo’, Harris took a strong stance against the trolling that occurred. She took on a lead-role in engaging with the Carlton Football Club’s Carlton Respects Schools Program and joined Our Watch as an ambassador.

Both Carlton Respects and Our Watch are committed to educating and changing behaviours that lead to violence against women and children.

Harris was one of four Victorian nominees for the Young Australian of the Year award.

She was named as a finalist for the Jim Stynes Community Award last week, before finishing as a runner-up to Bachar Houli.

Congratulations Tayla, from all of us here at More Than Management!
